Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo & Conditioner

Unfortunately todays review is (like my last review) not a very good one :(. I have seen a few bloggers rave about how good the new Ultimate Blends shampoo and conditioner by Garnier are and so when I saw it was half price in Tesco at only £1.94 per bottle I gave in a bought it in the coconut oil & cocoa butter. As you all know I love anything with a cocoa butter scent, so I had really high hopes for this.
As you can see from the picture I haven't used it a lot. Only once actually. I hated this. Hated it. Well actually I'll be a bit more fair...I hated the conditioner. The shampoo was ok. The smell of it is probably the only thing I like about it and even at that I feel for a shampoo and conditioner the scent could do with being a bit more powerful.
For the conditioner I felt it was so runny when poured on to my hand and I felt it didn't stick to my hair if that makes sense? Like it just fell off as soon as I applied it to my hair. It also never made my hair feel soft after rinsing what was left of it out. You know after you've rinsed out conditioner your hair feels soooooo soft and smooth? Well this didn't do that. So much so I applied it a second time and again it didn't do much at all.
My hair was still tuggy when I was brushing it, it actually felt like I hadn't used any conditioner at all.
I'm sorry to sound like a total moan but I was very disappointed. Using it once is enough and I can't bring myself to use the conditioner again. I'll keep them both though incase I run out of my other shampoo but for now it's back in the cupboard it goes.

Pros:
  • Smells good
Cons:
  • Expensive (when not on offer)
  • Conditioner didn't leave my hair feeling smooth/soft
  • Doesn't have a good consistency.

  1. I felt exactly the same about this! The conditioner was so watery that it didn't actually do what a conditioner is supposed to do. Used them once like you, and gave them away.. Can't believe how people are raving about them because their crap!

  2. I haven't used this before but it doesn't seem like something I'd go for. For me, conditioner is totally important and thanks to you, I wont be wasting my money on this <3

  6. I used the red one of this, and although it wasn't amazing it was decent enough and for the price it was a pretty good set. The smell is amazing, too. Such a shame you didn't end up liking this one!

  7. I've been having this problem with the 'colour illuminator' version of this shampoo and conditioner. However, I used it today and went out of my way to use a wide toothed comb to make sure I'd got it right through my (very thick) hair. It rinsed much better and I got that soft feeling you described! So if you haven't already you could try that. You've inspired me to review the version I picked up too, so thank you!

    1. Aw really? Maybe I should give that a go although to be honest I don't really have time to do that in the morning. Yeah you should totally do a review and let me know when it's done :) xoxo

  9. completely agree with you! Conditioner is awful, the shampoo probably conditions more than the conditioner! Ive found it makes my hair a lot oiler as well and have to wash it more... great post tho :)
