Hey sexy ladies.....and boys? So I think it's got to a point now where I have been blogging for a while and I've learnt a few things on the way. I am in no way an expert at blogging and I am still learning new things but I wanted to share some tips that I have found helpful and also things that I look for when looking at other blogs. I hope these will be helpful to some of you and if not....then thanks for reading anyways :).
- Layout - For me when I click to go on to someones blog the one thing I expect is a nice neat and tidy layout. If it's cluttered and messy it makes me click off straight away. A plain background is always good too and by plain I don't mean it has to be white, I just mean not a tiled background where there's a picture and it's been multiplied lots! I know not everyone can afford to pay to get their perfect dream layout I can't either but I like to keep mine simple.
- Font - A good font for your text is always good. Something that is easy to read and also a good size of font. Anything too small is hard to read for some people and again that might put them off. I always go for "Normal" which I feel is a good size as it's readable but also not too big.
- Posts - I like to have my whole post visible on my page and not have part of it on show then a "read more" button....it might just be because I don't know how to do it haha! I understand it's a good way to get your post views up as the reader has to click on the link to see the whole post but for some reason it kind of puts me off.
- Spamming - Don't be the person who only comments on people's posts saying "I followed you follow me back" or "follow for follow?". It's just annoying and it's not gonna get you anywhere. You want your followers to actually be people who want to read your blog and enjoy what you write yeah?
- Your followers - Reply to comments on your posts and create a relationship with your readers. I do this all the time and I think it's just nice you know? It's always nice to get a reply when I've commented on someone else's post :)
- Social media - Join other social media sites such as twitter, facebook, instagram and link them on your blog. This is a great way to share your posts and communicate with other bloggers and also find other blogs. Bloglovin is also a great way to find other bloggers! Join chats on twitter such as #bbloggers, #fbloggers, #fblchat, #lbloggers.
- Links - When referring to another post you have written put a link somewhere in the sentence which takes your reader to that post if they are interested in reading it. Also make sure the link opens in another tab....I really don't like when I'm reading an interesting post and I click on a link to something else and it refreshes the tab I'm already in....I like it to open in a new tab so that it's ready for me to look at once I've finished reading the current post.
These are just a few of my main ones that I can think of at the moment and again these are my opinions. I hope you found this post some what helpful xoxo.

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks so :P xoxo
DeleteI agree with the spamming point too, I think its much nicer if you enjoy a post and comment just leave your link at the bottom. If the person is interested in taking a look they will no expectations made :) xx

Yeah totally! I don't mind people leaving their links in a comment at the end because that's where I mostly go to look for blogs and I do it myself :) xoxo
DeleteExcellent tips! I totally agree with you on building a relationship with your readers. It's always nice to see returning faces!

Thanks very much! :D xoxo
DeleteGreat post, I totally agree. It's much more enjoyable and professional to have a simple, clear layout. Also building relationships with your readers is so important, it shows that you don't just think of them as a number. I love talking to my readers and getting to know their views on my posts etc. It makes it all worth while:) xx
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with you too! Thanks for reading :) xoxo
DeleteGreat post & super helpful for a beginning blogger like me! I couldn't agree more about layouts! I like everything to look clean & well organized. I feel like some great blogs are just overshadowed by messy/crazy layouts!

That is so true! It just ruins it for me and makes me not want to read so a nice clean layout is much better in my opinion :) xoxo
DeleteVery useful for beginners. I totally agree too; cluttered blogs just make my head fizzy! X
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! I'm glad that this is helpful for some people :) xoxo
